INTROSPECTIVE SELF PORTRAITS

“Self Portrait Before Haircut” by Christine Adele Moore

“Self Portrait Before Haircut” by Christine Adele Moore

Self portraits are painted when I experience extreme emotion or feel the need for introspection. They help me process. I am very touched when personal pieces like “Self Portrait Before Haircut” sells.  It feels like I really connected on the most basic of human levels with the patron.  An unspoken understanding and acknowledgment between us. The painting touches them because we share some vibration of life experience, if that doesn’t sound to metaphysical.  I am happy to let these visceral works go to their new homes.

Even though this artwork was titled self portrait, I was more a portrait of the the energy of the beginning of a major transition phase in life.  But anyway, all of my artworks are of me, haha….sometimes I’m a flower or an octopus or a pair of eyes. They are this human’s expression and impression of the world.

The featured painting, “Self Portrait Before Haircut” by Christine Adele Moore is 12” x 36,” acrylic and resin on canvas, and completed in 2019. It sold to a lovely Lithuanian woman and her son at the Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats & Eats presented by Flagstar Bank in Downtown Royal Oak held September 3-6, 2021.

Once in a while I’ll do a silly one like the one I did during the early days of the Covid shutdown.
